LITTLE EXTRAS uses the funds which it receives to provide benefits for staff and patients outside the scope of the HSC budget. It is not intended to provide anything which should be covered by the HSC budget.
Whilst the Trustees accept donations made as part of a specific request, they prefer that donations be made without any restrictions so that the Trustees can use their discretion as to where the funds would best be used for the widest benefit.

All Patients and Service Users of the HSC

Staff in all departments of the HSC including support areas like the laundry,catering, domestic staff and porters as well as the technical and nursing staff
It is easy to raise funds for the benefit of babies and children, but far more difficult to raise funds for the comfort of the old man huddled in a chair at the end of his life or the staff working in the laundrey keeping the hospital clean.
Sometimes they need to be remembered too.

Bequests from wills are a valuable source of donations. You might like to discuss this option with your advocate.
Specific Requests can be made as to the use of the donations where large sums are donated.
For large donations (over £5,000) the Trustees will be pleased to discuss the donor’s particular preferences as to how the funds are used. Remember the Trustees will consult the Health and Social Services Department and its staff to ensure that the charitable funds are put to best use and are not going to privide white elephants.
Non monetary donations: In collaboration with the Trustees, non monetary donations are also welcome.
